A question regarding Jewscout's 13 principles of Judaism thread

Quote:
3. I believe with perfect faith that G-d does not have a body. physical concepts do not apply to Him. There is nothing whatsoever that resembles Him at all.
I was curious about this since I alway hear the 'God's likeness' comment.

How can something have no physical existence and have something made in its image?

No doubt you hear this all the time, but I'm not all that clued up on Judaism.

Have you considered that "Likeness and Image" have to do with our inherent nature? In many religions there is a schism revolving around a single issue. Is man basically good but sometimes goes astray, or is man basically evil and must be taught to be good. If our nature is indeed reflective of that which created us it stands to reason that we are by nature G-d like. Evil then must stem from our lack of awareness of this.

Peace

Mark

hey Jaiket
well in the other quote i provided it says...
Quote:
All the corporeal terms used in the Scriptures to describe Him -- such as walking, standing, sitting, speaking etc. -- are metaphorical. As the Sages have said: "The Torah speaks in the language of man."

so i think that answers your question...
if it doesn't well...just let me know
