Today marks the 41st comemoration of the unification of Jerusalem by the IDF during the Six Day War in 1967.

It marked the return of jews to the Old City, and to our holiest site, the Temple Mount and the Western Wall after jews were forced from the city by Jordan in the War of Independence 1948.

There are celebrations held throughout the country as well as the recitation of Hallel, Psalms of praise, in Synagogues around Israel and the world.

I've never learned in history class why the Jews returned to Palestine. So, why did it happen? Why would they want to go into the Middle East? It is obvious that Arabs and Jews don't get along real well. So, it seems like it was a bad idea. I don't know if it was though because like I said I don't know the history.
