What totems speak to you?
I realize that for some this is a very personal topic, but just wondering, what are your totem animals?
Mine are the black bear and dragonfly. I really couldn't even tell how we picked each other. Dragonflies have always followed me, they are my calling card so to speak. When I first made a connection with the dragonfly I was having a lot of weird and crazy dreams, I read in several places that dragonflies are keepers of dreams and a messenger between the our side and theirs. The rest of the characteristics of dragonflies hit home with me as well, such as being territorial, homebodies, a link to the emotional side & rebirth or metamorphosis (they are born in the water and turn into fliers) and many others. On our first date, my husband nearly got whiplash because I stopped at a store window to drool over a dragonfly made of amber (another favorite). Since then he always finds dragonflies for me. ----------------------------- The black bear was by accident. Or perhaps not. My entire childhood there was a black bear head in my grandmothers family room that my grandfather had shot. He was dusty, had one tooth and soft. When she passed I asked to have it. The way the head was mounted made it perfect to rest on my forearm in the pow wow circle. (course he was also full of 20# of plaster). From that first time people that didn't know me, and especially little kids, called me the Bear Lady. Again, just as dragonflies are, bears are associated with dreams, rebirth (hybernation), and more. ------------------ So now, what are some of your totems? You do not have to go into detail like I did (and I didn't mean to) but just something to talk about, learn more about each other and possibly more about our selves. Wendy
