Since we really have no solid evidence that God or Gods exist, I'm very far from certain we can actually describe what God or Gods are or aren't.

Tonyamendola has a spectacular aura aboutTonyamendola has a spectacular aura about

Having expereinced God I cannot agree with you Metis - no matter I am certain you will forgive me that

This leads me on to describing Gods Qualities which cannot be described, only expereinced

So I will attempt to point you to the expereince of God which will give you the answer you seek - for some you may not have had this expereince yet - again all will
Where I use symbols which may point to God being of form it is only because words lack - God is formless

Sit for a moment and remember a time when you were held in the arms of someone who gave you only Love
Someone who asked for nothing yet gave there self to you
Always there for you, always a smile always a hand always kindness
Someone who looks upon you regardless of what you appear to do, as perfect with no exception
Someone who made you feel completely safe
Someone that made you realise you could never be alone
Someone who made you feel worthy
Someone who would Love you Forever
Someone who said "you are wholly Loving and wholly loveable"

And in return you only needed to accept that which was given - There was no cost or charge or fee or requirement or condition.

Then taking this feeling

See this feeling as one ATOM and GOD as ALL ATOMS in the entire infinite Universe

Then know that even this description does GOD a great injustice in the LOVE that God is

The true expereince of God provokes AWE beyond any words because God is Everything and gives that to US
Infinite LOVE is exactly that - with no measure absolutley limitless in perfect equality. Nothing can be outside of this

God is LOVE and that is ALL there is when we choose to look - through his eyes

You assume I "seek" God and, actually, I have for over 50 years of my life. During the vast majority of that time, I was a "believer". What changed my mind? When I finally realized that "belief" may be just a sheer desire to believe in something.

But what happened to me instead was an increasing awareness that, if there is a God or Gods, they seemingly should be found within science itself. Not the study, but the laws of physics that our universe, and maybe our multi-verse, operates on. And, if that's the case, then we're part of God or the Gods ourselves, and so is all of nature and the cosmos. Therefore, I find Spinoza's and Einstein's approach to be much more enlightening than most conventional theologies.

And, to me, if God or the Gods wanted us to believe, then they'd make certain we believed. So if "belief" is not required, then maybe appreciation of all that's around us, including each other, is far more important.

Metis

We all seek our Gods with no exceptions - It is our spirit
Some may call that Money or Health or Religions

Trying to further this

Imagine for a moment having everything you thought you knew wiped away
Everything that you thought you were gone - your past as you believed it absolutely removed
You become an infinite being
You no longer have up and down or beginning or end or limit
You are everything that is
Imagine that happening in an instant from what you are now to that

A complete opposite and upside down reversal of ALL ideas - Your reality GONE

It could provoke great fear if you do not have something to grasp - your essence or core

That core is LOVE and the beginings of recognising that core are to see there is no such thing as self interest

As we travel along this path Love becomes more bright until it becomes something more important than anything else - this was why Jesus spoke about Loving all as self

When you experience God there is nothing BUT Love

If you do not know Love - what will you make of Eternal LOVE and nothing else ?

Much as a loving parent wouldnt shake a child having a bad dream awake God will awaken us gently with a quiet voice

The voice for Love

The path you choose is one that can only lead to Unity and Love and indeed the expereince is seen through your brother - so I agree with your last line
The belief that "then maybe appreciation of all that's around us, including each other, is far more important"

Exactly

There is not one path but many

And, as Yogi Berra wisely said, if you come to a fork in the road, take it.

For that statement to be true you have to state your definition of God. I get the feeling that in these discussions participants change their definition of God as the discussion develops.

I heard an excellent description of what God is and indeed what you say "that God is the connections between all things" is correct

I wish I could put it into words but its not possible

So the description is

It is not that that the cup of water is poured into the ocean
But that the ocean is poured into the Cup

The ACIM lesson I am doing today also explains as follows

LESSON 326.

I am forever an Effect of God.

W-326.1. <Father, I was created in Your Mind, a holy Thought that never left its home. 2 I am forever Your Effect, and You forever and forever are my Cause. 3 As You created me I have remained. 4 Where You established me I still abide. 5 And all Your attributes abide in me, because it is Your Will to have a Son so like his Cause that Cause and Its Effect are indistinguishable. 6 Let me know that I am an Effect of God, and so I have the power to create like You. 7 And as it is in Heaven, so on earth. 8 Your plan I follow here, and at the end I know that You will gather Your effects into the tranquil Heaven of Your Love, where earth will vanish, and all separate thoughts unite in glory as the Son of God.>

W-326.2. Let us today behold earth disappear, at first transformed, and then, forgiven, fade entirely into God's holy Will.
