Grace

What are your thoughts about grace. Is grace earned or is it given freely?

I think God gives everything freely.

I was reading a section in A Course in Miracles tonight which I think speaks to this. Jesus is speaking here about our tendency to feel we have to "do something" before we can accept atonement.

Quote:
God did not create His dwelling place unworthy of Him. You have been wrong in thinking that it is needful to prepare yourself for Him. It is impossible to make arrogant preparations for holiness, and not believe that it is up to you to establish the conditions for peace. God has established them. They do not wait upon your willingness for what they are. Your willingness is needed only to make it possible to teach you what they are.

You merely ask the question. The answer is given. Seek not to answer, but merely to receive the answer as it is given. In preparing for the holy instant, do not attempt to make yourself holy to be ready to receive it. That is but to confuse your role with God's. Atonement cannot come to those who think that they must first atone, but only to those who offer it nothing more than simply willingness to make way for it. Rather than seek to prepare yourself for Him, try to think thus:
I who am host to God am worthy of Him.
He Who established His dwelling place in me created it as He would have it be.
It is not needful that I make it ready for Him, but only that I do not interfer with His plan to restore to me my own awareness of my readiness, which is eternal.
I need add nothing to His plan,
But to receive it, I must be willing not to substitute my own in place of it.

In the bible Grace is God's unmerited favour, He gives what we do not deserve and could not earn for oursleves, the opposite to this is called reward in the bible.

Grace is unmerited favor, therefore it is something which cannot be earned. Just as the bible speaks about the "gift" of Eternal life given freely by Grace.

I believe that grace is a learned attribute, but that the propensity is put there by God, in much the same way as the the other gifts, like wisdom, are given. Wisdom too isn't something that someone just automatically has.

Grace is something that a person develops. I think that we consider it a gift from God because not everyone puts forth the effort to develop this trait.

Grace IS. We are already, but unless we "understanding" that we are already, Grace will not be our experience and we will not "stand under grace".

Cross Grace is a free gift...

Totally its free. There is no if, or, maybe about it. If you beleive in Jesus Christ then you have Grace fom Him for your belief. its because of the sacrifice Christ made. These are my beliefs. I truely believe a person is saved by Grace.

Now, who get the Grace? I think everyone will and can get it who acknowledges it and accepts it as the free gift it truely is. Will you go straight to heaven when you die if you didn't live a good life and you pray to God and ask for forgiveness then? Yes. Why? Because of the sacrifice of the one who offers the grace. This is what I have been taught and so this is what I believe. However, I also thing that someone who has always thought of it as foolishness will not even ask for forgiveness because to them it will still be foolishness. And when it all come down to the real truth only God really truely knows a persons heart. God is the one I have faith in. I do not try to tell God what to do or how to do it. Because the truth is we are all His creation and He has offered us free choice. I have never tried to do anothers persons job for them, so I surly do not try to tell God how to do His.

In heaven, there is supposed to be no more crying, no more pain, no more sickness, so If people are in heaven and they don't have all of these things and they don't feel non of the things caused by evilness, will we all care then anyway?
