Is Heaven is in the Constellation Orion?

Quote:
According to Jack van Impe, at the Rapture, Christians will be taken up to heaven, specifically to the Constellation Orion, where there is a hole 16 trillion 700 billion miles in diameter, the gate to heaven. Then, he says, billions of Christians are going to come back to earth to fulfill Matthew 25:31.

What are your thoughts? Why billions of Christians? Isn't the number supposed to be 144,ooo?

I don't think that the gate to Heaven is in Orion, but I haven't been there (Heaven or Orion) so what do I know?

I don't think that just Christians are going to heaven. I think you are judged on your behavior during this life, and not just what you believe. I think that more than just 144,000 are going to heaven.

I guess that this is one of those situations that call for faith, and I just don't have it in this.

This was so intriguing, I just had to spend a couple hours looking around on the internet. You just don't associate Christian evangelicals with extraterrestrial stuff, if you know what I mean.

Apparently, though, there's not only references in the Bible to Orion, but the 3 Egyptian pyramids line up with the 3 stars in Orion's belt, and it's supposed to be the home of Osiris (if I remember right). There's a site that talks about the main cities of the Middle East (origin of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam) as being a copy of the constellation, as well as a Hopi settlement in the US. Lots of other stuff as well in Greek Mythology, poetry, etc....

Makes you wonder where Jack vanImpe (love that name ) got his information. But anything's possible as far as I'm concerned. I always thought it was a little short-sighted of us to be looking for flesh and blood beings on other planets, and could imagine there are lots of different kinds of "life" out there.

From a website on 2012:

Quote:
The ancient Greeks, who received much of their knowledge from Egypt, believed that souls reside in the Milky Way between incarnations, and that there are 2 “gates” on the Milky Way. These are the Silver Gate of Gemini, through which souls descend to earth, and the Golden Gate of Sagittarius, through which souls ascend. Other versions say the souls of men can ascend by either gate, but that the Silver Gate leads to reincarnation and the ancestors, and the Golden Gate leads beyond reincarnation. The Golden Gate is also that through which the Gods descend.
The Silver Gate is just above the “hand” of Orion, who the Egyptians associated with Osiris, and they depicted him holding a star in his hand. In the Orion Mystery, Bauval & Gilbert presumed this to be the star Aldebaran. Now, Gilbert has found that the Egyptian word for star, s’ba, also means “door”, so Osiris is holding a Star-Gate. In some depictions, Osiris is holding an ankh towards the gate, so this must be the key which unlocks the star-gate.

Is Heaven is in the Constellation Orion?

It is very interesting to note that the scriptures also report “windows” to heaven.

Genesis 7:11
11 In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, on the seventeenth day of the month, on this day all the springs of the vast watery deep were broken open and the floodgates of the heavens were opened.

Matthew 3:16
16 After being baptized Jesus immediately came up from the water; and, look! the heavens were opened up, and he saw descending like a dove God’s spirit coming upon him.

Acts 7:55,56
55 But he, being full of holy spirit, gazed into heaven and caught sight of God’s glory and of Jesus standing at God’s right hand, 56 and he said: “Look! I behold the heavens opened up and the Son of man standing at God’s right hand.”

Acts 10:10,11
10 But he became very hungry and wanted to eat. While they were preparing, he fell into a trance 11 and beheld heaven opened and some sort of vessel descending like a great linen sheet being let down by its four extremities upon the earth;

If were to believe that “heaven” and the “Holy Spirit” have always been with us and if we are to believe that theory that dimensions can occupy the same space then we must reexamine the following scriptures.

Matthew 3:2
2 saying: “REPENT, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

Matthew 6:10
10 Let your kingdom come. Let your will take place, as in heaven, also upon earth.

Matthew 18:20
20 For where there are two or three gathered together in my name, there I am in their midst.”

Luke 17:20
20 But on being asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God was coming, he answered them and said: “The kingdom of God is not coming with striking observableness, 21 neither will people be saying, ‘See here!’ or, ‘There!’ For, look! the kingdom of God is in YOUR midst.”

As reported in the Bible, heaven may be an entirely different universe right in the midst of us.

Oh, come on!

Hasn't anyone noticed that there is no such "place" as the constellation Orion (or any other constellation, for that matter)? The arrangement of stars is a trick of how we are looking at them. The 3 stars in Orion's belt look liined up from here, but travel away from here in any direction, and suddenly you find out that the don't line up at all, that some are much further away from us than others, and so on. Rigel is 775 light years away from us, Betelgeuse 425 LY and Meissa 1100 LY, and so on for all the others.

The night sky, all of the night sky, is utterly different from every vantage point in the universe other than earth. The constellation Orion, and all other constellations, do not exist and cannot be seen from anywhere but here.

Once you actually start doing some rational thinking, this kind of stuff should be seen for what it is -- superstitious nonsense.

The whole world is the kingdom of God

You must realize that the whole world is the kingdom of God as stated by Jesus. Any injustice will be punished by Him and you need not worry about it. Your view of the punishment is revenge but His view of punishment is to transform the soul. If somebody has stolen your money, don’t pray to God to punish that person. Everything is recorded by Him unlike the courts which register the case only when a complaint is given.

The enquiry by God takes place immediately. Sometimes you find no punishment from God and you are scolding God. The silence of God means that the enquiry was completed and the judgment was “no punishment”. In the previous birth, you might have stolen money from that person and today you paid along with the compound interest. In this case there cannot be punishment and the enquiry was over. Since you do not know this, you mistake God for His silence.

Suppose such background is not there, then you will get your money with interest in some other way which is compensated by God. That person will lose the money along with the interest. You will see it with your eyes. But suppose you cursed that person with revenge, you will receive the punishment in addition to the above. Kauravas stole a share of wealth of Pandavas and finally they lost their whole kingdom. Pandavas gained the total kingdom which is double the share. But Draupadi was cursing Kauravas aspiring always for the revenge.

She was also punished for this as she lost all her children. Therefore, we should not scold even our enemy even by words or mind. God takes care of the entire case. If the injustice wins, it is a black mark for His administration only. He is well aware of it and will take the necessary action. He is more serious in your case than yourself. Unlike the court, He does not require registration of case or witness or advocate. When Hiranyakashipu tortured Prahlada, Prahalada kept silent and did not curse him in any way.

The Lord took very serious action in that case. Thus you have to keep God at every step as the basis in the worldly life also (Pravrutti). Jesus told that unless you excuse others, you cannot be excused by God. Your enemy will be punished if he does not excuse others. Such behaviour which indicates the full faith on God at every step of the life is divine Dharma in Pravrutti or Nivrtutti.

Good catch, EH. I'm reminded of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, and the "I'm so far from home" mental distress signal that Ford Prefect sent out at one point. The distances in the constellation range from "sort of close, but it would take more than one human lifetime to get there" to very, very far away.

My family mythology (strong emphasis on "mythology" here... ) actually claims the M42 nebula in Orion as our ancestral home base. If you go to my home page and look at the picture of me and my dragon buddies, you'll see the nebula behind me. I'm currently building up a friend's channeled contributions, some autobiographical stuff, and some really wild imaginings into a trilogy of science fiction/epic fantasy novels.

Heh Jack Van Impe is hilarious.

He and his wife are mainstays among my favorite evage-tainment. Van Impe "out of context" biblical quotes are... startling... Makes me realize I've been in the wrong business all this time.
