I have often been told (including here) that I cannot prove that God does not exist. That is (I blush to admit ) absolutely true. Which of course doesn't prove that God does exist, either. Non-falsifiable theorems are inherently much weaker than those for which some mechanism is known that would prove them to be false.

So, in that spirit, I would like to present my own non-falsifiable theorem.

I believe, based on all of the evidence that I've seen around me, and most especially based on the evidence to be found in newspapers and television (particularly the reality shows), that earth is in fact this galaxy's local prison and lunatic asylum. This status is, for obvious reasons, kept strictly secret from us, lest we realize that if it is possible to be exiled here, it ought to be possible to escape!

I think the evidence is really quite strong. And I don't think anybody is in a position to prove this theory is wrong.

Well, if we go with the maxim that real crazy people don't know they are crazy, I suppose there could be some validity to your claim. But, philosophically speaking, now that you've figured that out, you could no longer be crazy. Carrying this to its logical extreme, an intelligence as vast as one that could designate an entire planet as such an asylum must also be compassionate enough to know that once one of the inhabitants has ceased to be crazy, it would be cruel to keep them in such a prison. So the only solution would be to remove said person from the prison. Which means that if your theory is correct, you shouldn't be around any longer to respond to this postulation. If you are still here, then your theory would have to be incorrect. Further, if this theory is correct, it means that all people who claim to be victims of alien abduction were erronously thought to have achieved mental health, but upon further examination, had to be placed back!

In all seriousness, its just an updated version of Plato's Cave analogy.

Why would we put people prison if we are already in prison?

Actually, EH, I don't think you're too far off. If our reality as spiritual beings is ONE, then the world represents our split mind and is a witness to our seperation from this state.

This world IS an insane asylum, but don't worry about it - it's all in our head!

This reminds of something a friend told me a few weeks ago. In one of his classes the professor began by announcing "God does not exist." As the students were recovering from the shock he continued, "For God to exist means that he also could stop existing. God is."

Hi evangelicalhumanist.

You are close but actually life here on Earth is classified as " space garbage ", a 'by-product' of a "star' creation .

This means that Space People , since they have been around for infinity , create stars for their transportation .
In the vast area of 'infinity' and 'time' when 'time' can be measured shows millions and millions of different Space beings or maybe even just one Race of people travelling out there just as everyday stuff.

They have developed a way of exploding ,sort of, a mass of matter which then leaves the "star" which ofcourse is manifested by many gases elements etc , and in their incorporation of it they basically run a liquid type substance through an element substance which creates a tunnel type or canel type of transportation system linking star to star and ofcourse planets.
However ,
the planets and everything that was manifetsed from our star creation is just left over stuff and not really of any use to the Space People .
In a sense we are " space garbage" .
They know we are here but don't have "time" for us and are "out there" .

In their quest to continue to build their vast Star Transportation system they leave behind a Universe full of their 'leftovers' of the star creation . ofcourse being me and you and Popeye .

EDIT: Oh by the way ,this is just a fun theory and that's all.
