Quote:
Faith is necessary to belive in God Quote:
Depends on how you're defining God. If you mean some magical personal God who crafted us as artifacts in his own image and pushes or controls or directs the Universe from Heaven with his Son sitting at his right hand side, then I'd say uh, yeah, it'll probally take some HOPE (often mistaken or misinterpreted as Faith) to belive in God. But on the other hand if by God you mean everything that is, including yourself and the computer screen you're reading this on, then no, I'd say you probally wouldn't have to have Faith (or Hope) to "believe" in God. But some folks would argue that they are not even there you know... but generally speaking if you can accept the fact that you're here and that the physical world is here and then if you define God as everything that is, then you probally "know" God is "real" and do not need to even "believe". Do you believe in computer screens? Actually you do, but now we're getting into quantum psychology and... and actually my saying "Actually you do" is absurd. Who knows! God does! The Master! Do you think there will be a point in the history of humanity when the predominant idea of God is natural and organic rather than the Boss Master Controller Pusher Guy? I do. Then it'll swing back the other way. And then back. And back. Weeeeeeee! Last edited by Fortyone : 8th May 2007 at 07:01 AM. |

Faith
Faith is belief plus action, or acting upon a belief.
I don't think you have to believe in a God in order to have faith. You could have faith in something, someone else or yourself. When you brush your teeth in the morning, you do this in faith...believing that if you brush them they will stay healthy. Dieting, Vitamins, medicine, rituals, toothpaste, cyrstals, herbs, prayers and so on all require faith in order for them to "work". If you did not believe in them, they would not work, yet for them to work you have to demonstrate your belief in them by using them/taking them/burning them/doing them. Demonstration is the "action" part. You believe that the clock is going to wake you up, so you set it in the evening time. Is setting the clock the only way you could wake up? Setting the clock is just one possibility. You could ask someone else to wake you up and then trust in them, or ask God to wake you up and trust in "him" , or even tell yourself to wake up at a certain time and trust in yourself. What option you pick, is depended on your belief. Action (demonstration of the belief) will follow your belief. So, my answer is that this question can not be answered, because I can brush my teeth and still believe in God, or believe in God and still go to the doctor. Or not believe in a God, but not worry or fear. Everyone (even a atheist)is demonstrating their faith in something.

If I didn't have faith in God, I'm not sure that I could be a Christian believer. Faith in God is what I've always had. God was the only one I could ever depend on in my life and He still help's me out these days as well. I have faith that God will always be there for me. He will always give me the peace I need.
