I have tried to answer this sort of question before, mooomooo, but you don't like my answers.

First, it has never happened to me. It has never happened to anyone I know. I have heard people describe odd events all the time, and about 99.99% of the time, it can be shown that there was something else going on, that they were for one reason or another delusional (from drugs, or altered brain states due to great grief, the transition between sleep/wakefulness, brain injuries or chemical imbalances, temporal lobe seizures, and what-have-you), or that they were making it up.

That still leaves .01% that isn't explainable -- or that nobody has explained, which is not quite the same thing.

Now, if that were to happen to me, I might very well believe. But if a giant plate of spaghetti and meatballs suddenly began talking to me, saying "I am the Flying Spaghetti Monster," I might be inclined to believe that, too. Would you?

But that hasn't happened, either. And that's why such questions are not particularly useful. They hypothesize and ask me to state what I might do or believe in such an eventuality, and while I can take a reasonable guess based on my own self-knowledge, I can never really be sure until it happens, can I?

You say based, I say correlated. That you reduce all of that to the connection is your belief, I say it is the observable part of a greater whole. There is absolutely no way one can evidence that the connection is responsible for the experience or vice versa, that experiences encourage new connections. In fact, much of the recent study on meditation shows exactly that, meditation increases the capacity for new connections that scientists previously believed were completed with the onset of adulthood. I personally believe they arise together and the insistence that "one be the cause of the other" is a misnomer both sides of the argument are guilty of.

Hi evangelicalhumanist and all of you .

---
Now, if that were to happen to me, I might very well believe. But if a giant plate of spaghetti and meatballs suddenly began talking to me, saying "I am the Flying Spaghetti Monster," I might be inclined to believe that, too. Would you?

------

Thank you evangelicalhumanist , and yes l would believe in the Flying Spaghetti Monster too if the Flying Spaghetti Monster was sitting at the supper table with me having spaghetti "Curuso Style" and Red Wine ,with me .

EDIT , just kidding . I do not communicate with her and she only "dropped" by once lol.

But thanks even more so, because you now see why l must believe in God when at one time l was just like you in my thoughts of God .

But my ex -living wife also appeared as 100% real and if anyone came to you from that disposition you would have to believe ,,

even if you do not want to believe ,,

you must believe and now you know why l must believe and also what it would take for you to believe also .

I'll have a talk with my deceased wife tonight and see if she will pay you a visit lol and You can believe too .
