Repentance

Do you have to be religious to be repentant? How important is repentance in the scheme of things?

Depends on what it means to repent. If it means to repent my sins to jesus so I'll be saved, I would say it's not important at all. But repenting on what you have done wrong shows that you care about the scheme of things. It shows you have empathy, and that is not solely a religious attribute.

I have no reason or need to repent.

repentence exists in Judaism and it is achieved through pray and mitzvot...

To repent whether religiously or otherwise is the act of seeing the error of ones ways and deciding it's better to change them. It's also part of being a person who cares about your inner self. When you do things that are hurtful and wrong it makes you feel like crap inside so repenting is a real good way of saying "Stop, This is not for the good!"
At least that's my take on it.
