God and U.S. Money

Oct. 1 marks the 50th anniversary of the use of the phrase "In God We Trust" on United States paper currency.

This steps on some people's toes. Why? Should this phrase be removed?

Though faith and trust has made some religions wealthy, I would remove it not because of any human consideration but because the two (GOD and money) are not synonymous.

That phrase and the mention of god in the pledge of allegiance were put in place because of the 'red scare' in the 50's, aka Communism.

Are you sure, cardero? It seems to me that they are - in some people's opinion....

Judaism

To me, it violates the 1st Amendment's separation of church and state. And I also believe the "...under god..." part of the Oath of Allegiance should be removed to return it back to its original form.

Shalom,
Vern

...Most other States get by perfectly well without it -- if one discounts the "D.G." that appears on British and Canadian money, anyway, and I doubt that more than 1 in 100 people could tell you what that means!

Since the "enemy" of Amerika is not longer godless Communism, but god-submitting Islam, perhaps it is time for the phrase to go?? Or, perhaps, it should be replaced by the far more accurate "In guns we Trust"

By the way its going it seems time to replace In God We Trust with a portrait of the "Great Beast" and the insignia "It is thee we worship"
