Are Scriptures A Record?

Are scriptures a record of the psychological processes a human goes through to reach maturation and/or his/her higher self?

I've seen it conjectured and debated somewhere - but i can't remember where - that the Bible can be seen as representative of spiritual growth, with the God of the Old Testament representing a child with it's whims and sudden changes of temperament, and Jesus as the fully-realised Spiritual Man.

I don't think that it holds water, though, because there needs to be a transition between the child and the man, but there doesn't seem to be one, to me.... although i'm quite happy to think of Jesus as the fully-realised Spiritual Man.

Yes, I do believe that scripture all together or even life individually can be seen psychological as the process of finding our true self. And I would also include evolution and science. Every form of knowledge is reflecting on a smaller or larger scale the development of conscious awareness.

I agree. I know the New Testament to be a psychological rather than historical text.

Are Scriptures A Record?
Yes but no one really buys or incorporates turntables anymore.

...... yes, and one disadvantage of records is that they tend to get scratched and skip over the important bits -- but get stuck on a repetitive, arrhythmic beat.

Scripture is a record or log, or blog, or diary, or transscription of insight as posted or recieved by those who were sensitive to "that still small voice within". A vast majority of what we see today as The Bible is the result of enlightened communication between "thee" scribes and Divine Guidance/GOD!!

Sadly, we don't and will never have the transcription of the original enlightenment thanks to the Roman Catholic Church.

I would include all scriptures in this... I think overall there is a record though going far back in time as long as there have been written records but the farther back you go they tend to be more symbolic or allegorical... The more recent revelations explain the previous allegories and also point ahead to the future..

Dear Don,
I agree with your post and see it's value, but.....I don't see never having the transcription of the original enlightenment as something to be sad about. I think it is a blessing. I thank the Cathlic Church for doing what it did. The Church might have had other intends in mind for changing it, but that does not have to be my experience.

I see by changing the text we have to find out for ourselves, what was added, what was subtracted and what was changed. I love it! How much more has my faith grown, by seeing for myself.
