I saw this statement today. What do you think? Is there a reason the Universe exists?

I believe that the universe exsists because God is a very creative one. I think that He was lonely, like a child, and decided to make us all, as well as angels (good and the ones who turned bad) as well as other kinds of beings. He created the universe around us all because there were certain laws that hold things together. I don't understand it all myself, but I just try to think of things to tell my ownself that I have come to believe may be the way things are.

Why must there be a "reason" that goes beyond mere cause and effect? Does an eggplant really need to know a "reason" why it exists in order to exist? In other words, what I'm saying is that speculation is just that-- speculation.
