We would say...

...the Soul is that part of the Being that endures, that is reborn again and again, and remains even after the cycle of birth and rebirth comes to an end, passing beyond the circles of the World to whatever the final destination my be.

That said, it is not the personality, and is not the memory. Personality results from the interaction of the physical elements that compose the body of the Being, and the spirit that is housed within it. The memories are the result of the action of the body, and fade away between Death and Rebirth.

So, the Soul is an essence -- not the quintessence, but the sextessence -- a fine, rare thing. It is not what people call "energy", nor is it "breath" becuase both are physical, and it has nothing physical to it or, at least, nothing that we understand as physical. It came to be, it existed before the universe came to be, before Time itself came to be. It is something like a plan, or set of instructions...like a non-physical DNA if you will -- that allows the physical and the spiritual to congeal and form a being. But it is not static, and written for all time, but responds to the lives lived, and changes from Rebirth to rebirth.

And yet it is more than that because it is the "be" of Being.

Do I have "proof" of any of that? No. Do I want proof? No. Do I care that there is no proof of what I believe? No. Do I care if you believe me or not? No. Will I pronounce Anathema against those who do not believe as I do? No.

"Be seeing you..."

In my Faith all human beings have souls... and the origin of the soul is from the spiritual worlds of God. It is not a material or physical entity but associates itself with the embryo at conception. The soul does not actually leave or enter the body or occupy physical space. The association with the body though is like a light reflected in a mirror. The light is not "inside" the mirror but comes from an external source

I define soul to be one's true self. Everyone has one. What it looks like requires a lot of reflection to see.
