Hello there mooomooo.

I haven't been to Rushmore since they've finished the Crazy Horse part, but I appreciated your info on the dispute since I was unaware of that. It doesn't surprise me.

When visiting Mt. Rushmore about 7 years ago, we learned of the controversy dealing with a dispute near the city of Deadwood. Kevin Costner, who we had a chance to meet btw, wanted to build a large resort there, but it involved building it on some Lakota burial land. It went to court and he lost.

It was unfortunate in the sense that many praised him for filming "Dances With Wolves", but then they became disallusioned because of the casino controversy (he owned a small casino in Deadwood called the Midnight Star, which is where my wife and I met him-- aboput a 5 second "conversation" ). Then he ended up going through a nasty divorce at the same time.

Anyhow, thanks for the info.

Shalom,
Vern

Thanks for the link-- it's interesting.

BTW, if you visit the Little Big Horn, go to the restaurant that's on the Crow reservation right across from the museum and have some delicious fry bread. Even though I'm part Pawnee and Cree, I was not brought up in either tradition, but it certainly didn't take me long to learn to enjoy frybread!

Rats, I'm drooling on my keys!

Shalom,
Vern

With all due respect are you a Native Jew , wait a minute ,,l mean a Jewish Native ? ouch

Hey my grand father was Russian Jewish and my grand mother was Polish Christian and that makes me Moses lol wait ,, l mean a " Christian Jew " or , and lucky me , l am also a Jewish Christian .

So not only is the Son of God born killed and arisen but the Son of God has also not been born yet so l get the luxury of having my Jesus and not having Him too .

And throw in that l was a mistake being born we have a marvelous wonderul package and mix of "Personality Disorder Perfina" and it isn't even my fault .

I go to the store and at the meat section l hear ,,," don't eat the Pork " and then l hear " eat the Pork " lol and the strange thing is that l know which voice is Christian and which voice is Jewish , well it isn't exactly a voice but l know my heritage is Christian Jew and one eats Pork and one does not .

What is a poor Rabbi to do when he is not a Jew ?

I'm a Jew by choice who formally converted 11 years ago. However, I've always struggled with my faith and have drifted into a more non-theistic (non-belief) mode in the last several years. Fortunately, studying Buddhist dharma has helped me more than I could ever explain.

Reminds me of a joke:

A guy kep waiting to run across the girl of his dreams to marry, but as he reached his 30's, he was about ready to give up. While he was drinking his sorrows away one evening, this most gorgeous woman (was it you mooomooo?) he'd ever seen sat next to him. As they started their small talk, he was terribly impressed with her personality. Alas-- the perfect woman for him!

After talking together for about an hour, he asked her what nationality she thought was ideal, and she answered "Well, I like Indians because they're so down to earth, but then I like Jewish men because they're sophisticated (she obviously never met me), but then I also like those down-home country boys. By the way, my name is Mary-- what's yours?".

He hemmed and hawed abit and finally said "Well, ah, er, my name is Geronimo Goldberg, but my friends call me Bubba".

LOL. And I thought I was mixed up!

A close friend of mine who has been Christian all his life (he's 55 now) hasn't eaten any pork since he was in high school since he's always had this feeling that he was part Jewish. He comes with me every Shabbat morning to Torah study and there's a good chance he may convert. It's obviously his choice and I not only don't pressure him, I don't even ask him what's happening with him there.

BTW, my wife is Christian, I make no attempt whatsoever to convert her, and I attend services with her almost every Sunday, so I'm by no means anti-Christian or anti-religion.

Shalom,
Vern

P.S.: Have you ever had turkey bacon or turkey sausage? Tastes like the original.

Butterfly

The sad reality is ,as my honourable Brother in Spritual Native Spritualty Vern may know , is that anyone today , so far , who claim to have seen or communicated with the Real God has done it alone .

However this does not mean that they did not do it or see God , it just means they saw God while they were alone .

And if there is God ,,, then there is Satan too but none of us here are debating Satan..

Why do you feel no one here is pushing the Satan issue yet all are pushing the God issue ?
