Absence of Faith

Quote:
Absence of faith facilitates nothing. Thus its only logical to pursue faith.

I saw this quote today. Does the absence of faith facilitate nothing? What do you think?

What does facilitate mean? I looked it up but read "easy or easier". I don't get the connection.

Does the statement mean faith makes things easier?

Not imo. Matter of fact, I tend to think it's usually the other way around. It seems that if we accept faith, which is what happens with the absence of evidence, then we open ourselves up to believing all sorts of imaginary things. IOW, it may well only facilitate superstition and illusion.

Shalom,
Vern

Yes. Since we have no faith, nothing remains.

Luke 17

5The apostles said to the Lord, "Increase our faith!"

6He replied, "If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, 'Be uprooted and planted in the sea,' and it will obey you.

The apostles want their faith increased but Jesus implies they do not even have faith equivalent of the small seed. There is nothing there yet to increase.

"Absence of faith facilitates nothing. Thus its only logical to pursue faith."

To be honest, i think that it's either a very naïve statement, or more likely, a statement which is an immature attempt to put down those who have no "faith".

"Faith" seems to me to believe unquestioningly what someone else has claimed to be true, which - in my opinion - is naïve in the extreme.

I think that -- on the contrary -- an "absense of faith" facilitates ones' own reasoning as to what the truth of the matter really is.

Menorah1 Faith?

For me, I never think of faith is something necessary. I always find out a great deal about something before I start to observe it and this has no difference with the religion I love so much. I have read an article by a rabbi before and he told us that faith is not needed in Judaism. He further elaborate that the pillar of Judaism is founded through national revelation.

I see that this is a very good starting point for me to dwell further, so I start to investigate this and found this great formula:

"Faith is not blind, it is a conviction of something real upon investigation."

This suppose to be faith. I know there is a lot of challenge with national revelation of Judaism but I truly see that science is catching up.

Perhaps I am narrow-minded but I dislike the word 'faith'. Haha, G-d Bless!

Everyone has their own fantasy. This why essentially nothing is happening and there is no change.
