I dont see death as frightening simply because there is no such thing as death

As spiritual beings the laying down of a body is merely that and nothing more

I know this is not a pleasant subject, but I do think it worthy of discussion. Also, I don't see this thread leading to a debate as much as just an exchange of different ideas that people have about death.

I'll respond as a Baha'i on this one...

Baha'u'llah revealed that "I have made death as a messenger of joy to thee wherefore dost thou grieve?" so it is the entry to the spiritual worlds to us Baha'is.

All Baha'is are to make provisions to prepare for their death through Wills... Also the place of burial should be within an hour's journey of the place of death.

According to Baha'i law the body should not be cremated or embalmed.

Hi .

There was something in the way you said the above that made me think . If this is true that there is no death , could it also be true that in this infinite life with no death , that we 'transition' when our body dies into a continuation of our individual life and self ,,, suggesting that in this 'life' after 'life' or say life after our body dies there may be another realm of a world we enter or continue into but this continued world is and can be horror for some who do not grasp love and caring and are what we call evil while in their body alive life and those will continue in a world of running from horror beings and conditions in this continued world which will go on for infinity while the good and caring people will continue into peaceful bliss and warmth and glorious beauty in their continued world after their Earthly body dies ,,,
, is that what you mean ?

My life and l assume all of us live in a world of individual beauty and then not so beauty meaning that life seems to be good then horror then good then horror then good then horror and so on . We learn to adjust to the horror such as losing a loved one unexpectedly etc and we live the horror out and try to accept the things we cannot change and we continue and then in time life is good again and then ,,,

"you know "

and the horror is back and the sort of cycle repeats and repeats and we get stronger and stronger but it still hurts as we adjust and get stronger through all the horrors .

"Enter God "

God can be seen . It is well known that " God is everywhere" . Surely everywhere is here and where you are now ,, " everywhere" . So if God is right where you are now then perhaps God is not as difficult to find as assumed and God is right there with His hand reached out for you individually .

With all due respect , we die alone and it is you and God alone at your last moment before death and you will see God quite easilly then , and you will say ,,

"oh my God , You are real " and then you open a box of crackers and put philedelphia cream cheese on it and float in the clouds with Moses .

The "theological" explanation, as I see it, would be (as Genesis states), we decided to taste of the tree of "good and evil"....which means we entered duality, leaving our natural state of Oneness behind.

The belief that we can be separate from God (separate from Life itself) is death itself, which is reflected in our "world." So, in essence, we're "doing it" to ourselves.

From a pratical standpoint, not yet.... I guess I need to do that at some point in the next decade or so.....(not getting any younger, ya know!)

I think it's very worthy of discussion - thanks for bringing it up.

I've had several bits of evidence/experience in my life that leads me to believe that death is a transition, not an end. With some further research, I've also come to believe that living in the body is actually quite foreign to our "natural" state of being. Therefore, death would be a joyful experience.

Hi angeleyes .

You stated in reply to this quote by metis,,

" And a second question: have you done or are doing anything in order to prepare for your own death?

-------> angeleyes you replied ,,

-->From a practical standpoint, not yet.... I guess I need to do that at some point in the next decade or so.....(not getting any younger, ya know!) <--

Perhaps metis was saying that a choice is suggested in respect to what we believe Spiritually , individually and that the major Religions have a structured concept for one to follow which is directed to God and these Religions keep a firm maintenance in the people collectively in respect to Religion and what we are allowed or do know of the true God our Lord and us .

In that respect but not followed by most l assume is that it may be best to acknowledge belief in God while able to and also live by what we call God's standards of caring especially for those less fortunate than ourselves and at our point of death we do not have the time to ponder and ask God if it is okay to change now , and perhaps it is best to change not at the point of death but now and enjoy the Lord in Faith .

I just wanted to say that lol and l feel you know what metis meant and says.
