Tulip Forgiveness as frangrance of violet...

I have read from others and heard from speakers that forgiveness is the greatest tools towards peace in one's own life and the means to the end for a new life for everyone. I happen to believe that...along with gratefulness. Here is a quote from Mark Twain which I heard recently and I love.

Forgiveness is the fragrance the violet sheds on the heel that has crushed it.

What do you think?

I agree. Forgiving someone doesn't mean we have to tell a person that we forgive them. It is something we do quietly for ourselves. Not forgiving hurts us and not the other person.

Are there things that are unforgivable? Should we ask others to forgive us?

My beliefs on forgiveness are more along the lines of ACIM....but I do believe there has to be a change in perspective that needs to take place..which could be seen as "forgiving". I do truly believe that we have not forgiven unless we can pull that expereince into the present and see it as a blessing (from where we stand now...because of that expereince).

I agree with L.K. that we do not have to actually physically go to the person (some might have already passed on or we might have no idea where they are or even who they are) and the same goes with asking for forgiveness. It is between us and God and since we are all connected through spirit...there is truly no need to say anything : )

I think even more powerful than forgiving and gratitude is the power of love. If I am love...love takes up all space.....all space. No need to go back, or think...or do anything else as to be. It is such a simple step...yet conquers all obsticles.

I agree Viv. Love is what it takes to forgive and be grateful. I also believe it is something inside us not neccesarily something we vocalize to another...If there is unconditional love inside us (as I believe there is) then there is nothing ungorgiveable except to our own ego.
