From a scientific perspective, that's impossible to answer and probably always will be. Some believe energy has always been around and always will be. Some others, with a more theistic perspective, believe that energy was formed by God or Gods.



This is the idea of unity that is found within Buddhism, Hinduism, and the beliefs of Einstein and Gandhi, involves the idea that one cannot separate all these elements without creating a false illusion that they operate independently. IOW, everything appears to be interconnected one way or another.
