Are cats for true christians?

I saw this article today. What are your thoughts?

Huh? What is up with even asking the question? A cat is a pet, and nothing more.

It raises the question if it is safer to periodically visit a cat house rather than own a cat.

The article talks about the demons entering the swine and Christians have no problem eating swine. Why bother the cat?

Let's look and see what passages refer to lions (very big pussy cats)...

David played with lions! See:

As is the fat taken away from the peace offering, so was

If David played with lions can a Christian play with a pussy cat?

There's a passage in the Gospel of Thomas that reads:

Jesus said, "Blessed is the lion which becomes man when
consumed by man; and cursed is the man whom the lion consumes,
and the lion becomes man."

(Apocrypha, The Gospel of Thomas)

Jesus blesses the lion!

What about this:

And the lion, whom thou sawest rising up out of the wood, and
roaring, and speaking to the eagle, and rebuking her for herunrighteousness with all the words which thou hast heard;

How about this verse from the Book of Revelation:

The feline line is noble, blessed..

As a side, Torah really doesn't portray cats in much of a negative light, but it certainly does dogs. Referring to someone as a "dog" was considered to be quite an insult, and this may have been created because of the packs of wild dogs that often threatened people in ancient Israel and Judah. However, having dogs (or cats) as pets is not forbidden by halacha (Jewish Law), but a failure to create somewhat of a natural environment for them to live in is. For example, keeping a bird in a small cage is considered unnatural and cruel.
