Well, first off I don't believe we can be conscious of our true Self and let me explain why. To be conscious of anything one has to be separated from it. You can only see it if you are not it. Yet what you see is a reflection of your own belief. I can observe my body.....yet am I the body? If I can observe it...I can't "be" it. Who is observing it?
What the true Self is, can not be observed....because we are "it". Coming back to beliefs....beliefs are programs of the mind (individual and collective). Beliefs can be observed and therefore changed and/or eliminated. To do this one simply has to become aware of the belief "working", also known as bringing it to consciousness/light.

Exactly. Why must there be delineation between ourselves and our "true" selves? Why force duality? I just don't get it. In the famous words of Popeye the Sailor, "I ams what I ams and that's all that I ams."

asking questions
Quote:
A belief of any person can be questioned but the question should be such that it should not hurt the feelings of individual. Following ones belief blindly and not questioning it doesnot prove that what the person is following is without evidence and rationality. Just as not questioning about gravity doesnot prove the non-existance of gravity. It is true that a person should have proper knowledge about ones beliefs and should also be aware about its facts. As far as observing ones body is concerned, if you are really interested to seperate yourself from your body and go into meta-physical mode then the only option left for you is to kill yourself which offcourse you will never do. You donot have to be seperated from yourself ,you have many people out there whom you can see without any problem and observe them. Ibrahim(pbuh) never believed in the idols even before receiving the revelations from God and always questioned the beliefs of the polytheist people . It is actually the intellect that draws your attention to the reality and helps you understand the reality. |

The Modern Science and Technology has penetrated the bodies of living beings and we study in biology about the structure of beings.
It is not correct to say that we are not aware about ourself . We know what is our taste, passion ,hobbies and are also aware of our dislikes and likes. We are also aware about our internal structure and organs and even non-medical students have basic knowledge about the biology of living creatures. It is an enough evidence that proves that we are a created beings and there definitely must be a Supreme Intelligence behind our creation. The same Supreme Intelligence that has created us has also set rules and regulations for us so that we can live our life according to it. Those rules and regulations are for our spiritual development and progress just as an engineer who makes a machine also launches a manual for the operation of that machine. |
