I'm bisexual, have known since I was 16, came out of the closet (to a few good trusted friends) when I was 17. (I'm 24 now) My family will never know, they are way too conservative to accept me that way...mostly because my family are conservative christians. I've kinda given up on "looking" when it comes to dating men, even though I prefer men. I don't think I could date a woman, however. I easily play "straight" in society, and I express my sexuality (that I rarely acknowledge) through dressing butch: baseball caps, T-shirts and short hair. ![]()

RevKV,
I've never been surprised by anything Shirley M. says, including a statement about gays being more spiritually advanced (or at least farther along the path). It seems perfectly logical to me, even in the absence of evidence!

This was a very interesting interview we did here on the forum. Toby Johnson is a gay man with PhD in psychology. He wrote a book on gay spirituality and he also knew Joseph Campbell.

I'm probably somewhere between 1% and 10% gay, so I don't see any reason for me to come out. Even though I think I just did.
I'm also probably somewhere between 1% and 10% homophobic, so maybe there is a correlation between being gay and homophobic?

I'm bi. I came out to my father when I was 17, I think. He accepted me without qualm.
I'm still in the closet with my grandmother, though, something I struggle with. I'm not afraid that she'd reject me, but that she'd believe I'm going to Hell. I don't want to upset her like that. Still, I feel so dishonest.....

I don't know... I think sometimes with older people it is better not to tell them..you need to go with your gut on that one....but do not be hard on yourself either way
