What if WE were Gods ?

Is it not reasonable to assume that in our far far far distant future , that we will have the ability to create a life form and deposit it on a planet of our own construction., and that life their will evolve into a sentient society ?

What would be the religious ramifications for that society ?…would we be God ?

Perhaps there are Beings with this capability already, and they are wending their way creating life forms and societies in their own happy corner of the Cosmos.
What if us and our own planet is one of them ?

Is it not plausible that one day we shall be able to do this ?

And what if in the far far distant future we also developed the ability to travel back in time. We could be our own creators. Cool huh?

We already have from the far far distant past, the ability and desire to create life right on this planet.

Being able to create life, as we know and live it, on another planet, would mean that we are extending the life we already have, elsewhere.

Btw, I believe we already are God(s). Then again, I tend to equate God with Life.

Thanks Joshuway.

I should have been pedantic with my choice of words.

What if we assume that the life we are to create on this new planet is a completely new type of life form that we have created in the lab. It is unique.........Perhaps for the sole purpose of depositing it on the planet. Non human.

I agree. I don't think there is any satisfactory answer to how consciousness can be created. I suspect it can't but you can focus or split existing consciousness into different chunks.

Anyone who has seen Harpo Marx play a harp or watched Ray Charles perform already knows we are gods.

"And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness" (Gen1:26).

"And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil" (Gen 3:22).

"I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High" (Psalm 82:6).

"that we may know that ye are gods: yea, do good, or do evil" (Isa 41:24).

"Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods?" (John 10:34).

"And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent" (John 17:3).

"For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring. Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man’s device" (Acts17).

"The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ" (Rom 8).

"Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ" (Gal. 4: 7).

The idea was pursued in the scifi series Babylon 5 - those who felt they were gods became the bad guys, while those who felt they were angles became the good guys. The first use us as their play things, while the latter allowed us to develop of our own capacity albeit with assistance.
