I like Viv's answer: when you know, you know. I think we can know things intellectually, but I also believe there's other ways of knowing. We can know things through feeling, intuition and insight, and we can observe what happens when we open ourselves to other ways of knowing. We can test our truths and look at other's experiences. Things come into play in our lives that give us all the "proof" we need, that simply cannot be explain by coincidence. But that doesn't mean we can explain it in scientific terms to someone else (especially when the other person firmly believes such things are impossible).

In a nutshell, I don't think there's any proof of God, just as there's no proof of love, because we're talking about the inner world, not the outer one. I think the statement LK cited above is just an attempt to make spirituality and religion look irrational by some who feel that way (if one believes people like Dawkins, 80-90% of people in the world are idiots). I do believe there's plenty of indirect evidence, but those who want to find fault with it, will.

(To be fair, we're very slow at giving up the judgemental guy with the beard. So I think we do need to be more rational about religion. But don't throw out the baby with the bathwater)......

QUOTE:..."But, to be fair, as many theists make it as atheists; wanting someone to prove their a-priori assumptions, which is what beliefs are. One can no more prove the existence of the gods, than one can prove that parallel lines never meet...."

Faith is allowed when we do not 'know' the Truth of God and have to go by written History etc . It seems whenever someone comes along and has proof ,
which would change all , who are in "Belief",,, to "Knowing" ,, would have their "Faith" turn to "Fact" and in the process causing your "Faith" to 'cease to exist' as it has now transitioned from 'Faith' to 'Fact ' .

Jesus was known for knowing "Fact" but was not allowed to share these 'Facts' because this would then change all people from " Faith" to "Fact" , changing and re-choreographing evolution and causing such havoc through 'discovery' by Man .

To see the whole picture and then the Truth , is to see why we cannot collectively know the Truth . And l say with respect that Jesus was stopped from 'telling the Truth' . This allowed and allows us to stay in Faith because it has to be this way .
