Even supposing that someone had a legitimate grievance against them (a very doubtful proposition), the violence done to them would still be wrong. In fact, your suggestion is the worst kind of speculation, which you seem to want to condemn; we have no shred evidence of such an infraction by the monks as a group, nor any one of them. Your words suggest a double-standard of justice; one can only feel something is unjust if the victim of a crime can be shown to be perfectly innocent. If anyone is less that perfectly innocent, then they "deserve" what happened to them. That is an absurd concept, if ever there was one. It is also, patently, unjust.
And, no, I will not "leave it to the detectives." It is simply a fatuous to assume that such attacks must not be condemned, and publicly condemned, because their are law-enforcement authorities.

wow..wow..wow..you have much of a defense here because of title and age ...and neither do i think are reasons that would keep one from being a victim to violence nor a reason to over look negative behavior that could have pushed one over the edge to plot revenge...Is it wrong???...well i would think so...but humans are for the most part tolerant beings till pushed and pushed then they break and the results can be a varied out come...I dont feel anyone just kills or beats up anyone...i do think they may hit a target that was in wrong place wrong time...and took the brunt of years of pent up anger...depressions ..abuse etc..... I took shawns post as there is not enough news to really know why or how or just what happened....past the obvious a heinous beating....and then read your post here with WHAT????....if your old...or have some sort of title that you wont be touched if your God fearing.....and now...even reading it...i really feel ..you have not tried to say that there are not those that would cause aggravation and make waves for the human condition makes one unable to be perfect (till you see it is indeed perfect..

)
seems your angry of a heinous crime committed and trying to say that no matter the circumstance the act was barbaric and inexcusable...and i would agree.. but because when people snap they are unpredictable one must do there best in life to not aggravate..and possibly do or say those things that might shove one over that edge...
