At least, not in the religious sense. Perhaps as a colloquialism for apocalyptic disaster.

Every day is Judgment Day, because every day we need to use our judgment. We are always held to account for our decisions, actions, words, even though we may not be aware of it.

I think that the only "judging" carried out is of our achievements and actions, and that that judgement is carried out by ourselves.
That is: by our real Selves.

I don't foresee a time when a deity will sort people into "pass" and "fail" groups.

Eolas Pellor's comment "Every day is Judgment Day" got me thinking, though. Every time we run into an obstacle that's connected to our own past actions or to some misconception we continue to hold, we have a choice: Continue in comfortable old ways, or break the pattern and venture into unfamiliar territory. In effect we are placed in the seat of judgement and must wield the power of life and death over our own ideas.

In Baha'i Writings we view the Judgement Day as the day of testing where an individual investigates for themselves and determines where they stand with regard to the most current revelation of God..


"... Concerning the meaning of 'Resurrection: although this term is often used by Bahá'u'lláh in His Writings, as in the passage quoted in your letter, its meaning is figurative. The tomb mentioned is also allegorical, i.e. the tomb of unbelief. There are usually in the Bible and the Qur'an mention of the stars falling or the earth in upheaval or the the sun darkening and so on... We believe these are symbolic references to the collapse of the authority of the earlier or past religion.

The heaven of every religion hath been rent, and the earth of human understanding been cleft asunder, and the angels of God are seen descending. Say: This is the Day of mutual deceit; whither do ye flee? The mountains have passed away, and the heavens have been folded together, 99 and the whole earth is held within His grasp, could ye but understand it.
