Judaism Holidays

According to the gospels, Jesus came first for the Jews. But if that's the case, why don't the vast majority of Christians observe most of the Jewish holidays described in Torah, such as Yom Kippur, Rosh Hashanah, Shavuot, etc.? Should they, IYO?

I think Christianity may have observed some of the Jewish holidays when it started ... Was the "Last Supper" a Passover meal?

As Christianity spread to the Hellenized world it adopted Greek and Hellenized culture to an extent. After the fall of Jerusalem the Jews were scattered and along with them probably the Jewish Christians...those who Paul called the "Judaizers" .

See the wiki article:

Judaizers - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Hellenized version of Christianity eventually prevailed and along with that I think some anti-Semitism that was prevalent in the Hellenistic culture.

At least that's what I recall about it...

There's a parallel I think between the emergence of Christianity from Judaism maybe in the Baha'i faith because we observe a totally different calendar and Holy days from the Muslim calendar and Holy days.

shaw-n will become famous soon enough
They should, but they have idolized their god and now think themselves as separate from the tree which they branch off from.

Sort of. First of all, the gospels appear to disagree with exactly when the Last Supper was eaten. The synoptic gospels have it on Passover, but John's gospel has it on the "preparation day" for Passover, which is the day before Passover begins. However, even though some of the symbols for the Last Supper were used from Passover, its significance and timing became different.

As far as your other statements are concerned, I'll wait for some other responses to be posted before I comment. However, I might have to wait until Sunday or Monday because of the Sabbath starting fairly soon.

I've never understood why they don't but far be it for me to tell people what rituals they SHOULD observe.
