Uruz: Strength and Health

Uruz is the second rune of the Elder Futhark.

Pronunciation: Oor' ooz.

Translation: Aurochs, or wild ox.

Significance: Uruz represents physical strength and vigorous good health. It is favourable for healing and for any task that takes us to the limits of our endurance.

How to use it: Try including Uruz in your meditation if you're concerned about a health issue.

It can also be used to "ground" yourself and consolidate scattered energy, but be aware that this rune has energies of its own. This energy is essentially neutral until directed. The "wild ox" of Uruz can be used to plow your fields... Or to trample your daisies.

Would you explain more on how to properly use this? I don't want the ox to trample my daisies!

With Uruz and other runes that symbolize power, it depends a lot on how many other power runes are in close proximity. When a lot of energy comes into play, it gets harder and harder to control the situation.

In the case of Uruz, it has the effect of energizing the situation. This can be good for healing, because it lends vitality. It can also symbolize renewed resolve and is positive for situations where indecisiveness has been a problem.

However, if other action-oriented runes have shown up, Uruz can represent such qualities as pushing too hard; bullying; running in without looking; and, generally, being the proverbial bull in the china shop. It is not subtle in its action, dealing with the big picture rather than with the details.

Organization and action= good

Exercising power with out thought= bad.

I think I got it.

I have always wanted to learn about runes, but have never been motivated to read a book about them. I live in a small town, and there are no classes available on them either. I really appreciate you showing how they are used and what they represent.
