Satanism VS Christianity.

In most forms of Satanism (of both the theistic and symbolic kinds, including LaVey Satanism), blasphemy and rebellion against Christianity are considered a helpful phase for the Satanist to go through, as a catharsis or as part of self-initiation. But they are NOT the central long-term focus of most forms of Satanism.

Satanism is NOT just Christianity in reverse. Granted, a lot of Satanists dislike Christianity: this is largely because of how unjust the Christian mindset is percieved to be to many non-Christians, and opposition to some common Christian values, which (to Satanists) just seem wrong. But not all Satanists hate all Christians, and very few Satanists which I have encountered even really care that much about Christianity.

Interesting and well handled on the forum Galamount...thank you.

So Satanism isn't just the "absense" of Christianity?

I will say that I am on a number of forums...all of which deal in spirituality...and I have found Satanists to be very respectful in the way they deal with other faiths...even Christians.

Satanists have many different opinions when it comes to Christianity. I knew
one Satanist girl who actually had a Christian boyfriend.

Do remember that not all Satanists are evil corrupt Devil worshippers.

Oh my...I have never forgotten that for a moment. I think I've mentioned that I know a few personally and am good friends with them. I would not surround myself with evil, corrupt people.

That's a very interesting and informative post, Galamount.
Please don't laugh, because I'm going to bare my soul here.
In my ignorance, I had always assumed Satanism as the ultimate rebellion...as you phrased it "Christianity in reverse". My assumption was that followers of Satanism must accept the Bible's view of God and Satan, and had just chosen to worship Satan - who represents the antithesis of God. That's what I get for wallowing in my ignorance.
Thanks for the clarification. I'll try to be more diligent in the future.

I like this post. It's the only one I've read on here, seeing as how I just joined so I could reply. Anyway, I am a Satanist, and I do agree with what was said. I'm also happy that carnemuerte was able to understand some things better.
