Satanism and racism

There are many things about Satanism that I disagree with, but none more than the common thread of RACISM that seems to tie almost every Satanic Organization together. Naturally, it stems from the basic satanic tenet that as Satanists, we are elite. However, the term "elite" is easily used as justification for racism or sexism when it should be used as a term defining singularity. I blame LaVey's Bible for this concept. However, as misguided as his terminology is, I must note that LaVey's Church of Satan is one of the very few satanic groups where I have NOT found rampant or underlying racism.

Yes, as Satanists, we tend to think quite a bit of ourselves. Most benighted Satanists won't mince words when proclaiming that others are somehow beneath us. We have no problem with pride, no matter how deserving we may or may not be of it. However, I've come to discover that among those Satanists who have legitimately studied philosophy/theology/physics/etc (not just paged through some Nietzsche, Crowley, and Hawking) have come to understand that the drive for an "elite" self-opinion is merely the beginning of a larger lesson.

The drive to become "elite" is better defined as the drive to master and control one's environment to suit their own agenda. We do this in order to create the most perfect and enjoyable existence we possibly can. Most Satanists are Atheistic and don't plan on having any kind of existence beyond this one, thus the desire to live life with a self-centric focus. But in order to create our own private Edens, we are forced to look beyond ourselves and into our environments. If we are to truly master our lives and create our own Utopias, we must work to shape the world we live in to conform to our ideals. Common sense would say that in order to do this, some basic contributing elements might be tolerance, indifference, tenacity, eloquence, and above all...responsibility.

So now that we have hopefully realized that in order to maintain our own Edens, we will naturally need to be responsible for our actions and manage our environments. Good grief, this line of thinking can lead to moderate political thinking, social responsibility, ecological stewardship, and other horrific ideals!

I've strayed a bit from the topic at hand, but this incomplete or misunderstood concept of elitism is the basis of the prevalent racism I’ve found in groups like Maxine Dietrich’s Joy of Satan Church. I was recently a part of a small group of Satanists in the process of organizing when one of our members decreed that the world was mired in a Zionist conspiracy and it should be our mission to publicly topple it while posing as the Anti-Christ. What is truly appalling is how utterly anti-satanic racism is. The very idea that a Satanist has any kind of political agenda outside his or her own pursuit of individual divinity (as it applies to this existence) is preposterous. Those who act without regard of this are truly lost or worse...

"Modern" Satanism is based on personal identification with Satan as an archetype, not a real entity. It could just as well be called Prometheism or Melek-T'aoism. I'm currently involved with a group who is in the process of creating some long overdue published material taking the "Satan" out of Satanism. However, the archetype is extremely important and not to be dismissed.

Satan isn't a bad guy. He had some questions and got kicked out of the club for asking...or so the mythology tells us. Both Satan and Prometheus had the audacity to bring wisdom to mankind in the Eden and Fire myths respectively. Yet they were both punished for putting man before God.

This is why we call ourselves Satanists. This is why we struggle with it as well.

A few months ago, I was a practicing Satanist. I was into Theistic Satanism pretty deep.

I joined Joy of Satan. I remember how the group hated jews...but claimed to not mind people of other races. Just hated jews. They believed something about since (the christian) God chose them as his chosen ppl, they were actually cursed.

It took me about 7 months to realize that JoS isn't only fake, a waste of time, pathetic, and a bunch of BS...but they're not even real satanists.

I agree with you on your view that Racism is un-satanic.

I've always enjoyed your posts. Having not encountered the views of a Satanist before joining IFForums, I think I can speak for many when I say you do not present the ubiquitous Satan image most allow their imaginations to conjur up through ignorance and "traditional" secular or theological brainwashing.

The thing about these kind of requests that bother me is the fact that satanism is, by nature, unique to almost every single person. For me to claim that I have the only acceptable definition is simply incorrect. For you to publish blanket tenets of Satanism based on my input alone would be incorrect. My definition of Satanism will differ from just about every single practicing or self-described satanist's.

I'd be happy to share my ideas on Satanism as it applies to me, but if you were to publish it, it must be done in a manner which reflects that position.

Thank you for responding octavius. I wouldn't think of publishing anything you said without doing so exactly as you said it. I'm not an Editor. You would have, if you so decide, the choice of any "lead in" or preface, signature, copywrite, etc. I would not change a thing. No word limit.

when i first started to read this post, i started to think i was reading something about adolf hitler. all this racism nonsense... ugh. it's very irratating. i agree that racism is very non-satanic. i believe that just because you have a different religious idea you are superior to everyone else. i am agree with almost everything about satanism, but i dispise racism.
