Dawkins and Selfish Genes...

Dawkins is attacked frequently. What of his ideas conerning evolutionary biology bring him to the front for attack?

Do you believe evolution is inherently a flawed science?

What about the gene-centered view of evolution do you disagree with?

Is it too reductionist, for instance?

Do you adhere to group selectionism?

Jaiket:>>Dawkins is attacked frequently. What of his ideas conerning evolutionary biology bring him to the front for attack?<<

He's quite assertive, although there's a fine line between "assertive" and "aggresive". It's interesting that some theists consider him the latter, but yet they cannot see their own aggresiveness when the proslytize.

>>Do you believe evolution is inherently a flawed science?<<

Not inherently. Certainly there will be mistakes made, but that's true of any human endeavor. The fact that there has been an evolutionary process is well established and it's a shame that there are some who simply will not even consider seriously looking into what information is out there.

>>Do you adhere to group selectionism?<<

Evolution does not confine itself to just individuals, but involves a process that is interwoven with the entire environment, including the social environment.

By chance have you read "The God Delusion" by Dawkins?

Shalom,
Vern

I'm bloody itching to buy it...I had resolved to wait 'til my busy period with uni was over.

But does 'selection' confine itself to individuals?
