Is Intelligence same as Crime and Theft?

According to 1 of my friend who lives in Texas, an American Thinker says that intelligence is something that is not necessarily inherited but comes into existance by environment and changes that take place in environment, just as theft and crime are something that people donot inherit but people become criminals and thieves because of there surroundings and environment.

I forgot to ask him the name of that thinker but i want all your views on this statement of the thinker. do you agree with this statement?

Do you all agree that intelligence is dependent on the environment in which we live and it can change ?

Looking forward to an exciting and interesting debate on this

I think your friend might be confusing intelligence with knowledge. To me intelligent only means that one has the capacity to require, process and retain information (knowledge).

I think that intelligence can be stimulated and improved in the right environment. However, I also think that intellectual capability has a strong genetic component as well. So, no; it isn't entirely dependent on the environment.

According to my limited understanding and knowledge , i believe that there is no comparison between knowledge and crime or theift since crimes and theifts are habbited developed by an individual and depends upon the circumstances but you cannot generate or develope intelligence because it is not depended on environment and if this was the case then all the non-intelligent persons might have developed greater degree of intelligence in them but it is true that not everyone is intelligent.

Intelligence is also genetic and it is carried down from generation to generation.

Judaism

The "nature v nurture" debate has been going on within the field of psychology for at least a century, but most now more than ever realize that one cannot realistically separate the two. According to fairly recent studies, our brain is patterned from a very early age by interreactions with especially our human environment, and we even see that influencing religious selections. Those who are brought up in religion "A" are likely to stay there or eventually select another group at least somewhat similar.

On the other hand, there's no doubt that genetics plays a significant role as well. To me, it's sort of like genetics supplies the "clay" and then our environment "molds" it.

Shalom,
Vern
