Wouldn't the universe fall under 'nature'? and there fore according to an earlier post by LK be non-rational? Which would mean that there was no inteligent force behind it?

Can you explicitly detail what you mean by 'intelligent'?

In MY opinion, I don't believe it is. To me, it is the consequence of natural manifestation. To call it intelligent I suppose embellishes it with some sort of independent rationale deduced by decision process and other choice making stuff !!....

Besides, one probable outcome is it's own destruction and a very lonely dark dank empty Universe....that doesn't seem too intelliegent to me....mind you...if I'd been around for billions of years I reckon I'd welcome a short respite....

The cosmos seems to have a order or cycle like nature.

Intelligence however is a naive term to describe somthing of the cosmos as the cosmos or any other system obviously doesn't fall in the bounds of human intellect.

There is somthing called the Gaia theory which I really like in regards of our planet. For years I have often wondered if such a theory could be applied to the cosmos.

The Gaia theory states that the whole world is a organism with many integral parts including nature, organisms and natural functions that comprises it's whole system.

If the universe is intelligent, it would be so vastly different from ours that our ability to recognize it might be as hard as an ant's ability to recognize our intelligence.

Precisely.

Human beings like to think of ourselves as the absolute intellect ,but we forget that there are realms and states of being that are outside of our own vision.

I find it highly unlikely that human intelligence is the highest form of intellect and that statement is a gross understatement.
