Trip to UU service
As an interfaith panentheist, i think that UU is a really good idea. But i recently attended a service and i was a little taken about to discover that they didn't mention the Divine once. They had a cute skit and alot of rambling but it seemed to me that they tried so hard not to offend any religion that they left ALL religions out. I would love to find a group in my area that embraced the wisdom of all religions and faiths instead of dancing around them. I hope that's not too harsh, i just can't really think of another way to describe it.

I have never been to a UU meeting/mass/service; I'm not sure what to call it. I would like to see one in person some day. |

Not forward at all
Actually i have been studying for over a year now on my own so that i can start an interfaith church. But i have to wait until i can move up to ny so that i can go to interfaith seminary. I have an internet ordination but i dont feel that i have earned it nor am i prepared for the business and legal aspects of running a 501c. But i hope to soon. I am working on a website which will give links and educational material on all the different religions and show how they support many of the same truths. Thats the dream anyway. Thanks for the encouragement by the way!

As far as the legal aspects, find a lawyer and hire him/her. I wouldn't want to go that on my own either. It isn't that you need to earn the ordination, but that you need to use it. Go out there and do something with it. You don't need to spend thousands of dollars to do what you belive and help others along the way. |

A Unity Church can be found in most cities. Go to Unity.org to find one near you. Started as a healing ministry by Charles and Myrtle Fillmore in the 1890's, it's a non-denominational refuge of divine serenity. All are welcome and every Unity I've visited has the same air of solitude and oneness and sacredness.

What is the point of starting a church if not to teach some form of doctrine? Are not the churches just like divinity schools/seminaries? Why do even panthiest/deist/pagan/etc feel the need to always start a church? Is it merely to create an environment of spiritual kinship? Is it a tax shelter? It seems everyone needs a church...even Satanism has hundreds of sectarian churches...and there always seems to be an underlying agenda of some kind.

One reason for a church is having a place where people of like minds can come together and refresh them selves and support each other.....
