Decorate the mitten tree

A Crafty Social will take place Saturday, Nov. 4. All are welcome to work on knitted items for the traditional "Mitten Tree" in December which provides warm mittens, scarves and hats for the needy. Help will be available for beginner knitters. The same day, others can help make holiday decorations for the church, which will be decorated Saturday, Dec. 2, during a Deck the Halls party.

A sermon on love will be held Sunday, Nov. 5, at 11 a.m. The Rev. Hank Peirce, minister, has titled his sermon, "The Saving Power of Same-Sex Marriage." This is the first in his series of Service Sermons this year. Church school and childcare are also offered at this time.

The holiday craft fair and bake sale is Saturday, Nov. 18, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. There will be handmade cards, jewelry, handbags, art, accessories, frames, stocking stuffers, and more, all handcrafted by local artists.

The church is at 147 High St. in Medford. For more information, call the church office at 781-396-4549 or visit uumedford.org.

Understand the purpose

An intensive workshop in "Understanding the Purpose of Life's Tests" will be held Saturday, Nov. 4, from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. at Unity Church of God, 6 William St.

In this workshop, Dr. Mirdad will help participants gain greater clarity as to the purpose of life experiences. The event offers insights into learning life's lessons more easily.

The registration fee is $99 by Thursday, Nov. 2, and $125 at the door. For more information, call 617-623-1212 or visit unitychurchofgod.org.
