Talking Book of Shadows

A book of shadows is very important to many Witches. It can be most commonly described as a journal of spells. It can be much more than that though. Yes, a Book of Shadows is where many Witches record the success of their spells. You would record the setting, the air, the moon phases, the candles you used, the incense strength, etc. It is also a diary of what happened that day. With school, work, love, and life. I have my old Book of Shadow's and it has the first spell I casted. And a few pages later the difficulty I had coming out of the broom closet. It's not an elaborate leather bound journal that cost me a million dollars. It does not have "Rebekah's Book of Shadows" or anything of the sort. My first BOS was nothing more than a notebook from Office Max. A journal I liked. Either by the picture on the front, the lines on the pages, or lack of lines. ^_^ A Book of Shadows may sound gloomy but why not rename it to the Book of Lights!? It's illuminating in experience and White Magick.

Hmm.... interesting, Bekky! I think it's a neat idea to rename it a Book of Lights.

Anywho.... see you around!

I call my Book of Shadows a Grimoire. My version is less of a compendium of spells as it is a collection of ideas that help me assert dominion over my environment.

Book of Shadows, lights, grimoire, journal...regardless, I love my black book.
