Yule

Yule is fast approaching. Do you follow any traditions or rituals? Do you have any plans?

Yule isn't one of the Tides or Feasts within my Tradition. There is a minor and secret celebration of Elders on that night, but even if a could talk about it, and I can't because it is forbidden, I can't talk about it because I do not know anything about it.

Ah well...

For us, the next holiday of note comes in mid-January. As a result the imagery and motifs of the Feast are not about darkness, or even the return of light. It is about Fire, which fits well with the cold of January.

"Be seeing you..."

What holiday do you celebrate in January. I am not familiar with one then.

Yule is one of the major points of my year. I throw my house open to all comers, with mass quantities of food and drink.

My immediate family will usually have a small, private blót either before or after; the open-house part of the party is generally secular, although we usually toast Friends and Family.

this sounds like it is wonderful fun. I do something similar on New Year's Eve. Tons of food and drink, and invite everyone in. It is child-friendly, and everyone has a great time. It gives people an alternative to heading out to a bar, and a place to gather and relax.

Have a great time.
