Outlaw, it might be spreading your energies too thin to carry both practices, especially if you're having trouble reconciling the beliefs. It could also get stressful if a pastor preaches an anti-pagan sermon... You might also find that you have to actively hide some of your beliefs from fellow congregants.
Have you considered something like Unitarian Universalism? At very least, you might be able to discuss your dilemma with a UU minister. |

Yes, I have considered UU, but I have issues with going to the same church as Atheists, or Satanists, or what-have-you. Plus there are no UU churches in this area.
If I had to choose a faith here and now, I'd choose Christianity. I get fellowship and meet people who believe the same thing. The church I'm going to now is Pentecostal and I haven't had that much fun at church in...well...forever. ![]() I'm very excited about this new church and am actively looking forward to next sunday! ![]() ~Outlaw |

I believe you can join the two,but just don't call it anything. It depends on if you have a strong need to identify with a label on your beliefs.
I am a former hard-core Christian turned- Witch. Although I am drawn to Vodou and Shamanism and Egyptian wiccan, I cannot say I identify with a certain pagan religion or worship a certain god or goddess. I pray to the All, the Source, the God, the Light, and Jesus. A few years ago if you told me you were a witch or talked to spirits or did psychic work, I would have thought you were Satan and you wouldn"t have set foot in my house !!! But God had other plans for me ! I like the readings of Ernest Holmes and Joseph Murphy and Catherine Ponder as they take Christian scriptures and explain them in more metaphysical terms. I feel more connected to God now than I ever did as a Christian. Yet, I've found that most beliefs are all the same. The common beliefs between Christianity and Vodou and other earth based religions are SO SIMILIAR ! Just worded differently !!!! I believe we all have the same power Jesus had and he was trying to tell us all that ! And now they call that witchcraft ?? Wasn't he pretty magickal himself ? Isn't it all about BELIEF and faith ? okay I'll go for now because this is a topic I am passionate about and can go on forever..... Devann |

Yeah I feel quite close to God (Yahweh/Jehovah) as of late as well. I still believe in the Goddess, the Wiccan holidays, and nature spirits. I honestly don't want to just leave Wicca in the dust, it has served a need before, and it can continue to do just that. I still believe in the Greek Deities, just not sure where to put them. I figure Yahweh is superior to the other Gods. In the bible He does not deny the existence of other Gods, he just tells us to not put them before Him.
There was a thread on here somewhere about Patron deities. I still feel Jehovah is my Patron. Which explains WHY I'm always called back to Abrahamic religions, whether I want to or not. I'm not sure why He chose ME to protect, etc. It's obvious this "man upstairs" still likes me a whole lot. Hence why I'm still here. He protects those he has chosen (Israel and Jewish ppl are example of His protection) and I've been told before in dreams that I was chosen by God, once by Jesus himself. Regarding labels, I'm not sure what to call myself either. Probably Christian since that's the religion I now mostly follow. With Wicca to the side. ![]() |
